Maintenance Technician – 1st shift

Pay: $30 up to $32 hour, plus Overtime and employee benefits
Shift: 1st Shift – Monday – Friday (9am – 5pm) + OT and occasional Saturday, but very rare
The position will perform routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on mechanical equipment and utility systems for foods process. Will ensure production machinery, material handling building systems, and building integrity are in efficient operating order.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure food process production machinery, material handling, building systems, and building integrity are in efficient operating order
- Assist with preventative maintenance program to ensure maximum production uptime.
- Ability to detect any abnormal conditions or problems with equipment i.e. worn gaskets, O-rings, seals, bearings or other moving parts and report those problems to supervisor or lead.
- Maintenance experience with production; conveyor belts, drive belts, valves, seals, mixers, labelers, palletizers is highly preferred
- Perform preventative maintenance by isolating power, grounding wires, troubleshooting problems, making repairs, restoring powers and checking for proper operation.
- Participates in the development of policies and procedures; monitors work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures and makes recommendations for changes and improvements to existing policies and procedures.
- Formulate Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
- Understanding of single and 3 phase electrical circuits, motor controls, lighting, installation and repair and modification.
- Performs complex horizontal and vertical welding, fabricating, silver soldering, hard facing, and braising using acetylene, arc, mig, and tig welder on most ferrous and nonferrous metals; makes specialized cuts and complex angles using a band saw; and performs simple to complex blacksmithing and parts fabrication.
- Ability to read and comprehend blue prints, mechanical drawings and/or electrical schematics.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical problems to a component level.
- Able to select tools for individuals and teams in relation to specific assignments.
- Able to problem solve and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Will be expected to continue skills-based learning and training. This includes using on-site training library (books, manuals, on-line resources) to develop needed skills.
- Must adhere to established policy/program on LOTO, machine guarding, hot work, and confined spaces
- Must be able to enter information into mapcon
- Be knowledgeable of all job functions related to production
- Keep work area clean and orderly at all times; during periods of downtime, clean and/or sweep floor area
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-5 years of hands on industrial maintenance experience for production machinery, preferably foods process
- Experience with industrial maintenance in: mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing, electrical, conveyors, utilities + high speed packaging/processing equipment
- Performs complex horizontal and vertical welding, fabricating, silver soldering, hard facing, and braising using acetylene, arc, mig, and tig welder on most ferrous and nonferrous metals; makes specialized cuts and complex angles using a band saw; and performs simple to complex blacksmithing and parts fabrication.
- Hands on mechanical troubleshooting experience
- Hands on electrical troubleshooting experience
- Maintenance experience with production; conveyor belts, drive belts, valves, seals, mixers, labelers, palletizers is highly preferred
- Participates in the development of policies and procedures; monitors work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures and makes recommendations for changes and improvements to existing policies and procedures.

- Work is expected to be performed at different heights/levels. This includes access to the ceiling, roof, cooling towers, etc. You will be expected to work at varying heights, using proper safety equipment.
- Must have basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Email, Internet).
- Able to read and understand Operation Standards, blue prints, maintenance and equipment manuals, etc.
- Experience with a Maintenance Tracking System software is a plus
- High School Diploma or Equivalent. + Post-Secondary degrees and/or certifications preferred
- Must be able to pass a post- offer drug screen as well as a criminal background check
