Electrical Technician – 1ST Shift

Description:
We are seeking an Electrical Technician for a 1st shift to install, repair and maintain low and high voltage wiring, programmable logic controls, computer-related equipment and other related manufacturing equipment. Ensures technology of electronic operating systems remains current and serviceable. Identifies complex mechanical deficiencies for production and manufacturing equipment and takes corrective action. Provides technical expertise for project/program implementation and resolution. Assists with hands-on installation or modification of equipment. Identifies, establishes and maintains relationships with external providers to provide support with high voltage and/or complex electrical systems projects.
Responsibilities:
- Reads blueprints, diagrams and/or schematics to troubleshoot computerized and electro-mechanical production equipment to determine cause and corrective action.
- Maintains low voltage and high voltage systems using diagnostic equipment, prints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Maintains appropriate equipment documentation to setup and/or modification of equipment, logic systems and programmable controls.
- Disassembles defective equipment or machines, completes repairs and/or install new or repaired parts.
- Maintains all electrical drawings, back-up controls, hardware and controls software.
- Performs programming and wiring as required.
- Preforms regular preventive inspections of electrical wiring and connections and proactively replaces worn wiring, switches or other electrical devices. Also regularly inspections electrical cabinets and boxes for defects, wear and tear, proper labeling, etc.
- May be involved in the development, implementation or modification of PLC programs and update of associated procedures.
- Has the authority to temporarily halt production due to safety concerns. Promptly notifies Maintenance, Production, Safety and Process Management of concerns and actions taken.
- Performs necessary functions to adhere to ISO/TS 16949 and ISO 14001 standards as well as customer specific requirements (CSRs). In accordance with ISO 14001 requirements, assist as needed, in the implementation and operation of the Environmental Management System.
Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of the maintenance inventory system including entry and removal of inventory items as well as making inventory adjustments. May utilize scanners or paper systems to maintain inventory data.
- Understanding of the difference between NPN and PNP read switches
- Understanding of the difference between input and output in PLC programs
- Understanding of OSHA and Company policies in the following program areas: machine safety and guarding, guardian worker, hot work, lock out tag out, fire extinguisher program, chemical safety, respirator usage & solid/hazardous waste disposal as applicable.
- Ability to read and understand electrical and pneumatic diagrams.
- Ability to measure Ohm, check voltage and current on 12, 24, 110, 240 and 480 systems.
- Ability to hang buss boxes.
- Ability to wire 110, 240 and 480 systems.
- Ability to start up, operate and shutdown equipment to perform troubleshooting and to ensure repairs have been completed properly
- Troubleshoot electrical problems by use of laptop
- Understanding of hydraulic systems including directional and slave valves
- Troubleshoot mac, slave, directional and other valves, thermocouples, encoders and electrical circuit problems related and not related to PLCs.
- Working knowledge of robotics; ability to modify and teach robot points
- Ability to write pic programs, modify machining programs and to program robotics
Qualifications:
- Associates degree or certification in Electronics or closely related discipline required. Electrical license preferred.
- 8+ years‘ electrical system installation and maintenance experience in an industrial / manufacturing setting required.
- Specialized training in pneumatics, controls, welding, plumbing and other related disciplines required
- Has solid understanding of production equipment and associated tooling and their electrical systems
- Solid English and math comprehension skills
- Must have no physical limitations – good vision, hearing, be able to lift and/or move items a minimum of 50 pounds
