Ammonia Refrigeration Technician

Pay: $20 up to $30 hourly + full employee benefits
Shift: Mon to Fri, 6am – 5pm
We are looking for an Ammonia and HVAC technician who is motivated to provide the best of their knowledge, adding value to our continuing growing operation.
Responsibilities:
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC/R equipment malfunctions and make necessary repairs.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC/R systems.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and effective completion of projects.
- Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Perform preventive maintenance on utility equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair ammonia refrigeration systems, HVAC systems, boiler/steam systems.
- Maintain boiler/condenser water chemical systems.
- Maintain refrigeration, cooling tower, and boiler logbooks.
- Execute work orders on time as assigned by planner/scheduler, PSM Manager, or other members of management as assigned in proper priority.
- Calibration of any/all equipment and instruments as assigned.
- Responsible for housekeeping of all work areas during and following performed work.
- Manage plant utility systems to include but not limited to plant refrigeration, boilers, HVAC, compressed air, water, and domestic water systems.
Qualifications:
- Speaks Spanish and English fluently [writes and reads in Spanish and English] – required
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience in refrigeration [HVAC-Certified], ammonia, and experience in freezer and cooler
- Previous experience in food industry maintenance, air conditioning, appliance repair, or field service is a plus.
- Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems is a plus.
- Able to perform pump rebuilds, sensor calibrations, PMs on Vilter and Frick compressors
- Able to perform ammonia pump outs safely.
- Micro troubleshooting skills
- Basic Electrical knowledge to include NFPA 70e requirements.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Must be able to do mathematical calculations.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical diagrams.
- Basic computer skills
- Valid Driver’s license and a safe driving record
- Certification or license in HVAC/R preferred.
- Must be able to successfully complete the Boiler Operator I certification within 18 months of job assignment.
- Must be able to successfully complete the Ammonia Operator II certification within 18 months of job assignments.
- No physical limitations or concerns – physically able to climb ladders, work at high elevations, and lift objects up to fifty pounds – facility is loud at times. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; vibration; and risk of electrical shock.
- Available to travel 25% + availability to be on call nights and/or weekends as required
