Shift:  5:00pm – 3:30am – Monday – Thursday  w/ some on-call days

 

Description:

In this role you will maintain and repair manufacturing equipment and any other industrial types of machinery in a factory. Manage the operation of machinery like production machinery, packaging equipment, and conveying systems. It is your responsibility to make sure that all industrial machines function well through preventive maintenance service and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs preventive maintenance on mechanical systems to include disassembly,
  • Cleaning, reassembly, and calibration.
  • Analyze test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators in order to diagnose equipment problems.
  • Cleans, lubricates and adjusts parts, equipment, and machinery.
  • Disassembles machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
  • Examines parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.
  • Observes and tests the operation of machinery and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters and other testing devices.
  • Operates newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
  • Reassembles equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
  • Repairs and maintains the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment.
  • Repairs and replaces broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment.
  • Studies blueprints and manufacturers’ manuals to determine correct installation and operation of machinery.
  • Cuts and welds metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment.
  • Demonstrates equipment functions and features to machine operators.
  • Records parts and materials used, and order or requisition new parts and materials as necessary.
  • Records repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Enters codes and instructions to program computer-controlled machinery.
  • Sometimes repairs or modifications are performed when blueprints and manufactures specifications are unavailable or incomplete
  • Utilizes safety and security practices and procedures following established rules and regulations and maintains a safe, clean, and secure work environment.
  • Communicate with management, engineers, mechanics, and equipment operators to advise them if there are any potential mechanical hazards.
  • Suggests improvements to all maintenance processes, including planning scheduling, preventive maintenance + corrective maintenance
  • Promotes the conservation of energy.
  • Maintains close contact with assigned maintenance crew, the production supervisor and equipment operators.
  • Keeps the maintenance supervisor and/or manager properly informed on all abnormal or critical situations and seeks advice on matters outside of their knowledge or authority.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of troubleshooting and repair experience working as a Maintenance Mechanic in an industrial setting
  • Mechanical troubleshooting – hands on
  • Electrical troubleshooting – hands on
  • Welding experience
  • Pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair experience.
  • Experience with the following: machines: form fill seal (stick and sachet), auger fillers, vacuum conveyors, conveyor belts magnetic induction sealers, capsule filling machines, capsule counter, blenders/mixers, labelers, heat tunnels, band sealers, printers, scales, check weigher and x-ray machines
  • HVAC experience is preferred
  • Experience with Oracle Netsuite computer software
  • Experienced in working with hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to read, interpret, manuals, schematics, and prints.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time and have physical requirements to regularly climb ladders and stairs, walking, kneeling, standing, squatting, twisting and bending for long periods of time.
  • Must be dependable and reliable and available to work overtime as needed
  • Works well with machine operators, maintenance team and leadership
  • Must be able to work the occasional weekend or on call shift
  • Must be fluent in Spanish and English.
