Now that the Covid pandemic is fading out, re-hiring is on the rise and many employers have long overdue maintenance needs for electrician and there are not enough active job seekers in the market to fulfill roles for all employers.
What Does a Maintenance Electrician Do? Maintenance electricians provide maintenance for the electrical system in homes or commercial properties. This would include performing routine maintenance procedures and repairs that are required due to wear on the systems. Maintenance electricians utilize testing equipment, problem-solving skills, and their experience to diagnose issues in electrical systems and make any necessary repairs. Their work may include replacing breakers, switches, AC/ DC drives, VFD’s, wiring and PLC troubleshooting.
Some electricians have no formal education beyond high school and learn their craft through apprenticeship, while others graduate from an associate degree program or trade school and become journeymen electricians or master electricians.
Maintenance electricians can find work in a variety of settings and industries. Some maintenance electricians work for property management companies and service residential or commercial buildings. Some work for home repair services and are called to various jobs each day. Others work in industrial settings and specialize in electrical maintenance. Each position has different requirements, duties, and responsibilities.
